The second-hand marketplace Users Express Anger About Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
